The darkly glamorous Mavi rocks a floor length Martin Margiela backless dress, fox fur and a box-shouldered leather jacket in the sweltering heat of Paris mens fashion week SS10. Her dark ensemble is accented with her spangly ethnic Dries Van Noten stilettos and dark red lips, with piles of gold accessories adorning her slender wrists. ON ADORE.

LA CAMBRE Graduate Shows BRUSSELS

| DAN THE SCOUT, | boys, | fashion, | girls — Dan The Scout @ 12:00 pm

Brussels’ esteemed La Cambre [school of fine arts] hosted their annual runway presentation last night, showcasing the work of their fashion students from first through to fifth year.

In a riot of colour and outrageous silhouettes, the designers explored mens and womenswear in futuristic, tribal, aquatic and even gender-bending ways!

Students stretched the boundaries of fashion design as wearable art, with voluminous structural garments, bright prints, tailored and sculpted outerwear of lavish proportions –  a conceptually-rich display of talent and hard work.

In a show such as this, the audience is forced to constantly alter their perspective accounting for the student’s year level, their thematic concern, and personal direction. As a new experience for Dan The Scout, the graduate show laid bare  the learning process that is fashion design.
